Regional Studies Center Holds a Scientific Lecture on Iraqi Society and Human Development

Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a scientific lecture entitled “Iraqi Society and Human Development”, delivered by Assist. Prof. Walid Mahmood Ahmad, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

The lecture aimed to shed light on the challenges facing Iraqi society in the process of human development and ways to advance it within the context of the social and economic transformations that the country is witnessing, and discussed the importance of human capital development as a key element in achieving progress and stability.

The content of the lecture included an analytical presentation of the human development indicators in Iraq during previous periods, and the impact of conflicts and disputes on the level of education, health and income. The lecture also referred to the role of educational and research institutions in enhancing societal awareness and developing public policies, calling for the activation of comprehensive national strategies aimed at improving the quality of life for the Iraqi individual.

At the end of the lecture, there was an extensive discussion among the attendees, during which questions and recommendations were raised regarding supporting development efforts through the concerted efforts of state institutions and civil society.
