Regional Studies Center Organizes a Scientific Lecture on Administrative and Financial Corruption and its Impact on Academic Work

Regional Studies Center organized a scientific lecture titled “Manifestations of Administrative and Financial Corruption and their Impact on Academic Work,” delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Faris Turki Mahmood on Monday, June 2, 2025, with the attendance of a group of academics and individuals interested in educational affairs.

The lecture addressed the most prominent forms of administrative and financial corruption, such as favoritism, bribery, and the abuse of power, while highlighting the impact of these phenomena on the quality of higher education, the decline in scientific research, and the threat to academic integrity.

Dr. Faris pointed out that the escalation of such practices leads to the deterioration of the academic environment and undermines mutual trust between students and faculty members. He emphasized the need to confront these issues by promoting transparency, activating oversight mechanisms, and encouraging a culture of reporting corruption.

The lecture concluded with an open dialogue session that featured constructive discussions on ways to address corruption within educational institutions. Attendees unanimously agreed that combating corruption is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation and coordination among various academic stakeholders and relevant institutions.
