Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a lecture titled “The Role of the Library in Serving Researchers and Postgraduate Students,” delivered by Mr. Ahmad Salem Mohammad on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

The lecture highlighted the vital role that university libraries play in supporting research by providing up-to-date resources and references that contribute to advancing scientific studies. The speaker emphasized that libraries are no longer merely spaces for storing books, but have transformed into advanced knowledge centers that rely on digital technologies and global databases, enabling researchers to access reliable information quickly.

The discussion also addressed mechanisms for enhancing library services to meet the demands of modern scientific research, training on the use of digital resources, and developing research skills among postgraduate students. It further underlined the importance of collaboration between libraries and research institutions to foster knowledge exchange and support innovation.

In conclusion, the speaker affirmed that the role of libraries aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 9 on industry and innovation, and Goal 16 on building strong institutions that ensure knowledge accessibility for all.
