Regional Studies Center Hosts a Seminar on Israeli Strike Against Qatar

As part of its ongoing efforts to serve the community and link academic research with pressing issues, Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul reaffirmed its role as a platform for responsible dialogue. On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the Center organized a seminar titled “The Israeli Strike on Qatar and Its Impact on Events in the Middle East: A Legal and Political Perspective”. The event was attended by academics and researchers specializing in international law and regional affairs.

The session aimed to explore the political and legal dimensions of the recent developments in the region and assess their implications for regional security and international stability. It also underscored the importance of upholding the principles of international law and the sovereignty of states, warning that continued aggression threatens prospects for peace and sustainable development.

Speakers addressed several themes, including the political ramifications of the crisis, Qatar’s legal standing under international conventions, and the role of regional and international organizations in de-escalation. Participants emphasized the need for a unified Arab vision to confront emerging challenges, while advocating dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means of resolving conflicts.

In conclusion, the discussion highlighted the direct link between the crisis and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Reduced Inequalities (Goal 10), Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (Goal 16), and Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17). The session concluded with calls for greater academic and research collaboration to provide policy-relevant studies that support decision-makers in the region.
