Regional Studies Center Participates in Scientific Workshop on Mechanisms for Implementing Government Program and Applied Research Platform

In support of the university’s role in advancing the government program and developing applied research in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Sustainable Development, Regional Studies Center took part in a scientific workshop organized by the University Presidency on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The workshop addressed mechanisms for implementing the government program and the Applied Research Platform. It was chaired by the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Abdulrahim I. Jassim, with the participation of associate deans for scientific affairs, directors of research centers, heads of academic departments, and program coordinators.

Representing the Regional Studies Center were Prof. Dr. Luqman O. Al-Na’imi, Assistant Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Regional Studies Journal, along with Lecturer Abdulghafour W. Abdulghafour, who attended as a technical expert in applied research.

The workshop aimed to enhance the university’s efforts in activating the government program and the Applied Research Platform, as part of its continuous commitment to promoting scientific research and its applications in accordance with international quality standards. The discussions also highlighted the importance of harnessing scientific research to serve the community and to address development priorities.

This workshop represents a significant step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, thereby reinforcing the role of higher education in advancing national development.
