Director of Regional Studies Center and Editorial Board of Regional Studies Journal Discuss Scopus Indexing Strategies

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Assist. Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhahir, Director of the Regional Studies Center, with the editorial board of the Regional Studies Journal. The meeting included Prof. Dr. Luqman O. Al-Nuaimi, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad A. Al-Obaidi, Managing Editor, to discuss strategies and mechanisms for including the journal in the global Scopus database, aiming to enhance its academic and research standing both regionally and internationally.
The meeting aimed to develop an action plan to improve the quality of scientific research published in the journal and raise academic and technical standards, thereby increasing citations and achieving broader dissemination among researchers. The discussion also covered ways to support and empower researchers to contribute to the journal, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), in addition to promoting research on regional issues related to peace, justice, and strong institutions (Goal 16).
The meeting also included discussions on scientific peer-review mechanisms, enhancing the journal’s digital infrastructure, and expanding collaboration networks with international academic institutions, thereby strengthening the journal’s prospects for inclusion in global databases.
