Regional Studies Center

The Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a scientific seminar titled “Iraq and the Sharm El-Sheikh Conference 2025: A Reading of Role and Impact” as part of its ongoing efforts to follow regional developments and Iraq’s role in international forums. The event took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

A distinguished group of the Center’s faculty members participated in the seminar, presenting research papers that examined various dimensions of the conference from multiple perspectives. The presentations were as follows:

• Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhahir: Iraq and the Sharm El-Sheikh Conference 2025: A Reading of Role and Impact.
• Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim: Does the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit Pave the Way for a State Project?
• Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud: Iraq and the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit: A Strategic Reading.
• Prof. Dr. Batool Halil Jubair: The American Discourse and Iraq’s Position in Trump’s Vision.

The seminar featured fruitful discussions on the nature of Iraq’s participation in the conference, its potential implications for Iraq’s regional stance, and the lessons that can be drawn from international experiences in addressing political and economic challenges.

The event concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of strengthening Iraq’s presence in regional and international conferences in a way that serves national interests and enhances the country’s standing in the region.
