Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on Poverty within the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals
The Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a seminar on Thursday, November 6, 2025, titled “The Problem of Poverty: Challenges and Solutions”. The event was held in observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, marked annually on October 17.
The seminar discussed the structural and economic factors contributing to the worsening of poverty, as well as effective policies and sustainable development programs aimed at reducing it.
Speakers emphasized that eradicating poverty represents the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1). They also highlighted the interconnection between this goal and several others, including Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
