Regional Studies Center Hosts Lecture on Building Scientific Researcher’s Identity

Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a scientific lecture for postgraduate students entitled “How Do We Build the Identity of the Scientific Researcher”. The lecture was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhahir, on Sunday, 28 December 2025, at the College of Political Science Hall.

The lecture addressed the concept of the scientific researcher’s identity and its importance in shaping a solid academic career, with particular emphasis on the distinct research identity of the University of Mosul as a long-established institution that plays a pivotal role in knowledge production and community service. It also highlighted the University’s responsibility in directing scientific research toward national and societal priorities.

The lecture shed light on the key mechanisms for building an effective research identity, including clarity of academic specialization, adherence to scientific methodology and academic ethics, and the importance of scientific publishing and digital identity in strengthening the researcher’s visibility and representing the University in local and regional academic circles.

The event witnessed notable engagement from postgraduate students, who emphasized the importance of such scientific activities in developing their research skills and building an academic path aligned with the vision and mission of the University of Mosul.

This lecture is part of a series of academic events organized by the University of Mosul as part of its efforts to support scientific research and enhance the University’s role in preparing researchers with a clear scientific identity capable of contributing effectively to knowledge-based development and community service.

The lecture contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably Goal 4: Quality Education through strengthening research skills, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by supporting knowledge production, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions through promoting academic values and ethical standards.
