Regional Studies Center Council Holds Periodic Meeting to Discuss Organizational and Academic Plans Supporting Sustainable Development

The Council of Regional Studies Center held its periodic meeting on Monday, 29 December 2025, during which a number of organizational and academic issues related to the Center’s work and future plans were discussed, in line with the vision of the University of Mosul, its academic mission, and its commitment to serving the community.

The meeting addressed preparations for the Center’s upcoming scientific seminar and the mechanisms for its implementation, with the aim of enhancing scholarly dialogue and supporting the production of knowledge related to regional and developmental issues. This comes in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), through the development of scientific research and the enhancement of the quality of academic activities.

The Council also discussed the participation of the Center’s staff in supporting colleges during examination invigilation, reaffirming the principle of institutional integration and cooperation within the University. This contributes to achieving Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting teamwork and reinforcing a sense of institutional responsibility.

In another agenda item, the Council reviewed the status of the Center’s official webpage on the University’s website and explored ways to develop and update its content to better reflect the Center’s activities and scientific achievements. This effort aims to enhance transparency and access to information, in line with Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), through building effective and open academic institutions.

The meeting concluded with discussions on preparations for upcoming scientific activities, emphasizing that the Center’s future programs will be designed according to a developmental vision that contributes to serving the local community and supporting decision-makers, thereby strengthening the University’s role as a key driver of sustainable development in Nineveh Governorate and Iraq as a whole.
