Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on the US-Russian Competition in the Eastern Mediterranean

Regional Studies Center held a seminar by Assist. Prof. “Walid Ahmad Mahmood” entitled “The American-Russian Competition in the Eastern Mediterranean and its Repercussions on Arab National Security” in the presence of the Center’s researchers, on March 30, 2022.
The “researcher” said that the research aims to investigate the background of the American and Russian steps to dominate the eastern Mediterranean region which have provoked regional powers that granted themselves the right to share the influence in the region.
The researcher pointed out that the research included four topics, which are as follows: the first of which involved the American exclusivity in the eastern Mediterranean region after the Cold War, while the second one dealt with the issue of the return of Russian influence to Syria in light of the American retreat, While the third discussed the Arab regional security system and the aftermaths of the conflict in Syria, and finally the fourth topic examined the future of the Arab security system between internal weakness and external interference.
