Regional Studies Center Conducts a Seminar Examining Education Quality Within a Self-Care and Human Development Context

Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul held, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, an academic seminar titled “Education Quality Through a Self-Care Perspective: An Applied Study within the Academic Dimension of Human Development Sciences”, by Dr. Muthanna Yaseen Saleh and attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists. The event aimed to highlight the essential role academic institutions play in enhancing education quality through modern approaches that strengthen the capacities of both students and faculty, while emphasizing the connection between these approaches and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The seminar addressed several key themes, including the role of self-awareness in developing student skills, the impact of a supportive university environment on improving learning quality, and the importance of establishing training programs that focus on the psychological and behavioral development of students and faculty members. Participants also exchanged views on mechanisms for aligning these practices with international quality standards, particularly those linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, such as Quality Education (Goal 4), Good Health and Well-Being (Goal 3), Gender Equality (Goal 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (Goal 16).

In conclusion, the seminar underscored the need to integrate self-care principles into the university’s educational policies in a way that promotes more inclusive and effective learning, and reinforces the university’s role in advancing sustainable development efforts.
