Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences in a Panel Discussion
The Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Naif Mahmoud participated in a panel discussion with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, and the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Prof. Dr. Yasmin Abdul Karim. This event was part of the first day’s activities of the Mosul Heritage Festival on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
The session was titled “Can Heritage in the City of Mosul be a Real Economic Factor?” During the discussion, the Dean spoke about the importance of tourism in Mosul and how it can be a real economic factor, given the city’s rich historical and archaeological sites that attract tourists worldwide. He emphasized that developing heritage tourism can create new job opportunities and increase economic revenues. Additionally, he highlighted that cultural festivals and the promotion of traditional handicraft products can boost the local economy and encourage investment in the tourism sector.
