The Hospitality Studies Department Holds an Awareness Workshop on Drugs and Their Effects

Under the guidance of the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Naif Mahmoud, and in cooperation with the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the Department of Studies and Planning, and the Sustainable Development Unit, and under the guidance of the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Naif Mahmood, the Department of Hotel Studies organized an awareness workshop for the college students entitled “The Impact of Digital and Traditional Drugs on Society and Ways of Dealing with Addicts,” on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Hiba Khalid Bakir and Asst. Lecturer Rana Khair Al-Din.

The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and the Head of the Tourism Studies Department, in addition to the college students.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness, educate students, and disseminate information regarding the risks of digital and traditional drugs and their negative effects on society, particularly among youth. It also focused on prevention methods and introduced students to effective mechanisms for addressing this issue.

This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly (Goal 3, as it promotes good health and well-being by reducing drug abuse), (Goal 4, as it supports quality education by spreading awareness and knowledge among students), and (Goal 16, as it contributes to building a safe society capable of reducing risky behaviors associated with addiction).
