The College of Tourism Sciences Holds a Scientific Workshop Entitled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, the Quality Assurance Unit at the College, in cooperation with the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, organized a scientific awareness workshop entitled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq” on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The event was held as part of the awareness team’s activities in the field of energy sustainability, environment, and climate.

This workshop was conducted in alignment with the National Initiative for Supporting Energy and Reducing Emissions, and within the framework of the awareness program for energy, environment, and climate sustainability launched by the Ministry of Environment, aiming to raise public awareness about the importance of addressing climate change and supporting national efforts in this vital field.

The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Noha Saleem Mohammed Ali, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the University of Mosul Presidency, Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Abdul Moneim Al-Jawadi, and Assistant Lecturer Hassan Jamal Al-Bazzaz. They discussed the causes of climate change and its environmental, economic, and social impacts.

The event was attended by the Dean of the College, the Assistant Deans, department heads, faculty members, and students.

This workshop contributes to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 13 (Climate Action), which calls for urgent measures to combat climate change and its impacts, and Goal 15 (Life on Land), through promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices.
