A Scientific Visit for Tourism Sciences Students to Mosul International Airport

Under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Prof. Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, and with the participation of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr Zaid Mohammed Talal, as well as the heads of scientific departments and a number of the college’s faculty members, organised a scientific field visit to Mosul International Airport on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the operational aspects of the air transport sector.

The delegation was welcomed by the Director of Mosul International Airport, Mr. Ammar Khudair Wali Al-Bayati, and the Airport Security Director, Mr. Sardar Hassan Ali, who received the group and provided a detailed explanation to the students about the airport’s work mechanisms. They highlighted the air transport system, arrival and departure halls, passenger check-in procedures, and aviation safety and security protocols.

This visit comes as part of the college’s plans to strengthen the practical component of its academic programs and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world professional practices.

This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals by contributing to Goal 4 (Quality Education) through promoting experiential learning; Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by preparing qualified students for integration into the tourism labor market; Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by emphasizing the strategic role of airports as vital infrastructure; and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through enhancing collaboration between educational institutions and the air transport sector.
