College of Tourism Sciences Holds a Workshop on Tourism and the Rights of Local Communities

Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, the Human Rights Unit at the college, in cooperation with the Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul and the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, held a workshop entitled “Tourism and the Rights of Local Communities” on Sunday, 21 December 2025, as part of the college’s awareness activities on human rights. The workshop aimed to highlight the relationship between tourism activities and the rights of local communities, and to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable and responsible tourism in line with human rights principles.

The workshop lectures were delivered by:

  • Dr. Omar Hilal Jendari (University of Mosul)

  • Dr. Nagham Abdul Sattar Hussein (College of Law)

  • Assistant Lecturer Fanar Tarek Yassin (College of Law)

The event was attended by Dr. Saeed Khdeeda Qolo, Head of the Human Rights Division, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Mohammed Talal, the heads of academic departments, and college staff, who enriched the workshop discussions with their valuable contributions, enhancing scientific interaction and dialogue.

This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
