Under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, the Department of Hotel Studies, in cooperation with the Presidency of the University of Mosul / Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, held a workshop entitled “Hotels as a Pillar of Sustainable Economic Development.” Assistant Lecturer Hiba Khalid Bakr delivered the workshop on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.

The workshop aimed to highlight the role of hotels as a key contributor to sustainable economic development through the adoption of responsible hospitality practices that enhance resource-use efficiency, support the local economy, and encourage innovation in the hospitality sector, in line with the requirements of sustainable development.

This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goals 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), underscoring the role of academic institutions in supporting sustainable development and serving the community.
