The Volunteer Team of the College of Tourism Sciences: Active Student Initiatives Serving the Community

Under the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Heads of Academic Departments, and the Head of the Student Activities Division, the Volunteer Team of the College of Tourism Sciences carried out a series of purposeful activities within the framework of student initiatives on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.

The volunteer team participated in organizing a student competition within the college, centered on presenting innovative ideas for volunteer activities by team members, highlighting the objectives of these activities and the beneficiaries. This initiative reflects the college’s vision of preparing students with community awareness, initiative, creative thinking skills, and teamwork abilities.

Additionally, the volunteer team implemented a series of voluntary activities and lectures across several colleges at the University of Mosul, starting with the College of Agriculture and Forestry. These activities aimed to introduce the role and academic and societal mission of the College of Tourism Sciences, promote a culture of volunteerism, and emphasize the importance of cooperation and integration between university colleges to serve the community effectively.

At the conclusion of the activities, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, honored the participating students in recognition of their voluntary efforts and active contributions to the “Bridge of Mercy” project, launched by the University of Mosul to serve the community. These student initiatives align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
