Sustainable Development

In 2015, all United Nations Member States adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or the Global Goals, as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are integrated — recognizing that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

Countries have committed to accelerating progress for the furthest behind by pledging to leave no one behind. This is why the SDGs are designed to drive the world toward zero in several transformative areas, including extreme poverty, hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls.
