Dams Researches and Water Resources Center

Our center, represented by the Director and several members of the Sustainable Development Committee, participated in a specialized workshop organized by the Department of Studies and Planning at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, entitled:
“Times Higher Education Impact Rankings: Concepts and Challenges”
on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The event was held under the generous patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ebrahimi, and under the direct supervision of the University Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jassim.

The center’s participation came as part of the ongoing collaboration among university units to support academic ranking efforts. The workshop included a comprehensive presentation on the criteria of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the mechanisms used to assess universities’ commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also addressed the QS Sustainability Ranking and highlighted the key methodological and institutional differences between the two systems.

The event saw active participation and engagement from assistant deans of colleges and heads of planning, media, and governmental communication units. A range of challenges and practical proposals related to the sustainable development units in the colleges were discussed.

This participation reflects the center’s continued role in supporting the institutional development efforts of the University of Mosul and contributing to enhancing its position in global rankings through active engagement with programs and initiatives related to sustainable development.
