Seminar on the Dangers of Smoking and Drug Use Held at the Center for Dams and Water Resources Research

As part of the University of Mosul’s commitment to promoting awareness and encouraging positive behavior among its staff and students, the Center for Dams and Water Resources Research organized an awareness seminar titled:
“The Dangers of Smoking and Drug Use.”
The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Othman, Head of the Water Resources Department, and was held in the Center’s meeting hall.

The session addressed the harmful effects of smoking and drug use on individuals and society, particularly from behavioral and social perspectives. Dr. Khalil emphasized that smoking contradicts the values of discipline and respect expected in academic institutions. He highlighted the importance of strictly enforcing smoking bans within educational environments in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aiming to foster a healthy and respectful learning atmosphere.

Dr. Khalil also called on faculty and staff to take an active role in promoting awareness by guiding students toward avoiding harmful behaviors such as smoking and drug use, thereby contributing to a university environment that reflects the institution’s academic and cultural values.

This seminar is part of a broader series of activities organized by the Center to support institutional awareness and reinforce the university’s vision of a safe, disciplined, and positive educational environment, free from negative practices.
