Dams Researches and Water Resources Center

Assistant Professor Dr. Yousif Hashim Abdullah, Director of the Center, along with the heads of the scientific departments—Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Othman, Head of the Water Resources Department, and Dr. Ali Mohammed Suleiman, Head of the Dams and Geotechnical Engineering Department—participated in the scientific seminar organized by the University Presidency on Saturday, July 19, 2025, entitled:
“Iraqi Scientific Research Between Ambition and Global Rankings: Tools and Challenges.”

The seminar hosted Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, who delivered a lecture addressing the main challenges facing scientific research in Iraq and the mechanisms for its development in line with the requirements of global university rankings. The seminar was attended by a number of academics, specialized researchers, and those interested in scientific affairs.

The participation of our Center affirms its support for scientific and academic efforts and its commitment to contributing to the development of scientific research in Iraq, in a manner that enhances the standing of Iraqi universities at the international level. This participation is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” by emphasizing scientific research as a fundamental pillar for the advancement of higher education.
