Lecture on “The Harms of Smoking and Drugs” as Part of the University of Mosul’s Awareness Programs
On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Center held an awareness lecture entitled:
“The Harms of Smoking and Drugs on Health and Society,”
delivered by Eng. Mustafa Salem Mustafa, with the attendance of several researchers and staff members.
The lecture addressed the major health, psychological, and social harms caused by smoking and drug use. The presenter explained the effects of these behaviors on various body systems, especially the respiratory and nervous systems, and their role in increasing rates of chronic diseases. The lecture also discussed the negative societal impacts, such as family disintegration and reduced productivity.
Additionally, the lecture emphasized the importance of intensifying awareness campaigns and guidance programs in educational and research institutions, encouraging students to adopt a healthy lifestyle free from harmful habits, and raising community awareness to prevent the dangers of smoking and drugs.
