Conclusion of Training Course on Modern Software for Water Resources Management

The Dams and Water Resources Research Center, in cooperation with the Department of Dam and Water Resources Engineering / College of Engineering and the Department of Planning and Follow-up / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, concluded its specialized training course entitled:
“Introduction to Modern Software for Managing Various Water Resources,” as part of the University’s scientific activities.

The course, which lasted 20 training hours, included participation from a select group of researchers and staff from Nineveh Governorate departments, in addition to several water resources engineers. It aimed to develop participants’ skills and enhance their capabilities in using modern technologies for water resources management.

The course covered both theoretical and practical aspects, including:

  • Basic concepts for working with simulation software in water resources engineering.
  • Smart irrigation systems.
  • Reliability of data used in water management.
  • Practical training on HEC-HMS, WMS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and their various applications in managing and sustaining water resources.

The lectures were delivered by a team of professors from the Dams and Water Resources Research Center and the Department of Dam and Water Resources Engineering, enriching both the scientific and practical experience of the participants.

At the conclusion of the course, a final evaluation test was conducted, and participants expressed their appreciation for the skills and knowledge acquired, emphasizing the importance of such courses in developing practical expertise.

This course was part of the series of scientific activities organized by the Center for the 2025–2026 academic year, aiming to develop and qualify engineering personnel to meet the growing challenges in water resources management using modern technologies.
