International Workshop on Interdisciplinary Specializations in Sports Science and Their Role in Enhancing Performance and Learning

Under the patronage of Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of Mosul University, the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Mosul University, in collaboration with Al-Hadba University College, organized the international workshop titled:
“Interdisciplinary Specializations in Sports Science and Their Role in Enhancing Performance and Learning,” which took place from October 26 to 28, 2025.
The first day’s activities began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem of Iraq and the reading of Surah Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the martyrs of Iraq.
Dr. Nebras Younis Mohammad, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, then delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the significance of holding this workshop to advance research and scientific cooperation.
This was followed by a speech from Dr. Nazim Shaker Al-Wattar, Chairman of the Workshop’s Preparatory Committee, who presented the workshop’s themes and scientific objectives.
The opening ceremony also featured two documentary films showcasing the journey and achievements of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at both Mosul University and Al-Hadba University College, highlighting their distinguished scientific and applied activities.
The first day of the workshop included two scientific sessions discussing the latest trends in the integration of knowledge across sports science disciplines:
The first session was chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Dbaiba, with Dr. Moayed Abdul-Razzaq Al-Hassou serving as the rapporteur. During this session, researcher Daniel Elikert (Germany) presented a lecture titled:
“Real International Relations: Connecting People with Public and Private Partnerships of Value.”
The second session was chaired by Professor Wadi’a Yaseen Al-Tikriti, with Professor Nawfal Fadhil Rashid as the rapporteur. This session included three scientific lectures:
Dr. Bakr Dhibait: “AI-Supported Digital Learning: Towards an Academic Model for Developing Teaching Efficiency.”
Professor Ibrahim Al-Dbaiba: “The Role of Physiology in Sports Science: From the Lab to the Field.”
Professor Mohammed Tawfiq Othman Aghwan: “Challenges and Opportunities of Integrating Interdisciplinary Specializations: A Future Vision for Sports Science – From Academic Division to Knowledge Interaction in Service of Humanity.”
The workshop aims to highlight the importance of cognitive integration and interaction between sports science disciplines in developing teaching and learning methods, enhancing sports performance, and fostering scientific collaboration among academics, researchers, and graduate students through the exchange of experiences and constructive discussions. This contributes to advancing scientific research and improving the reality of sports science in Iraqi and international academic institutions.
