Research plans

The research plan represents a forward-looking blueprint for scientific investigation. It encompasses systematic approaches to data collection, analytical processing of studies, and presentation of post-implementation findings. Formally defined, it constitutes the semi-detailed procedural guidelines governing research execution. Researchers develop this framework through comprehensive review of prior studies in their field. A robust methodology requires integrated elements ensuring research coherence and explicitly details data collection protocols.

Consequently, since its establishment, Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture research’s has directed its research agenda toward societal benefit by developing innovative, sustainable solutions that enhance farmer and rural community resilience against environmental and climatic challenges.
2023-2024 Foundational Research Initiatives:
Upon its inception during the 2023-2024 academic year, the Center launched six strategic research programs:
1. Conservation Agriculture (Zero-Tillage) Project
2. Natural Pastureland Reconstruction project
3. Drought-Tolerant Genetic Resources Project
4. Sustainable Agriculture in Saline Soils Project
5. Flora of Nineveh Project
6. Conversion from Center-Pivot Sprinkler to Center-Pivot Drip Irrigation (Dragon Irrigation) Project
These projects generated 25 specialized sub-studies addressing community development priorities—including water-use efficiency optimization, dryland reclamation, and sustainable agricultural productivity enhancement.
2024-2025 Research Expansion
During the current 2024-2025 academic year, the Center’s research portfolio has expanded to 43 planned research studies. These encompass diverse domains within:
• Conservation agriculture
• Natural resource management
• Adaptive agricultural technologies for semi-arid and arid environments
This strategic scaling reflects the Center’s commitment to:
✓ Supporting agricultural communities
✓ Strengthening food security
✓ Contributing tangibly to sustainable development goals
