Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches Completes Cotton Harvest.

In its continuous efforts to promote sustainable agricultural production, Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches at the University of Mosul successfully completed the harvest of the second cotton picking on October 30, 2025.
The harvest operation and the collection of field readings were conducted under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Subhi Al-Taweel, Head of the Genetic Resources Department. The research team also included Assist. Prof. Dr. Ma’an Mohammed Saleh and Assist. Lecturer Ammar Habib Mahmoud.
This specific crop is integral to the ongoing research experiments focused on testing new genetic compositions that exhibit high resistance to climate variability. The primary goal of this research is to provide farmers with new cotton varieties characterized by superior quality and high productivity, thereby directly supporting national food and economic security.
This research initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing specifically to Climate Action (SDG 13) and Life on Land (SDG 15). This work underscores the vital role of scientific research in building a more resilient agricultural future.
