While monitoring the harvest of the newly introduced sorghum varieties at the University of Mosul, as part of the activities of the Genetic Resources Department and the Field Sciences Department at the center,

Dr. Islam AbdulSattar Al-Rajabo’s camera captured the first appearance of a flock of approximately fifteen green parrots at the University of Mosul early Sunday morning, November 9, 2025. The birds were feeding on the sorghum grains.

This phenomenon is considered positive for the return of wildlife and the movement of migratory birds, as this type of bird is usually found in central and southern Iraq.
