Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research Chairs a Master’s Thesis discussion at the Technical College of Agriculture – Mosul.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research , chaired the session for the Master’s thesis defense of student Moanes Hossam Abdul Ghani, titled:

“Study of Gene Action and Genetic Traits in Maize Hybrids Using PCR Technology”

at the Technical College of Agriculture – Mosul, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in the hall of Professor Dr. Essam Abdulwahid Alela.

The thesis focused on investigating the genetic foundations and gene action in maize hybrids using modern molecular techniques, aiming to evaluate the genetic performance of the hybrids and to develop breeding programs for crop improvement, thereby contributing to increased productivity and enhancing agriculturally important traits with economic value.

This scientific collaboration with the Technical College aligns with joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through supporting scientific research and developing academic capacities, Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) by contributing to improved crop productivity and food security, Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by applying modern technologies in applied research, and Goal 13 (Climate Action) by supporting studies that promote sustainable agricultural production and adaptation to climate change.
