“The Importance of Seeds in Agricultural Production” Workshop Held at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research , University of Mosul.

 As part of the activities of Global Entrepreneurship Week, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research , the center organized a scientific workshop on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at  the University Presidency, entitled:

“The Importance of Seeds in Agricultural Production.”

  The workshop lectures were delivered by: Professor Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Taweel,Assistant Professor Maan Mohammed Saleh And Assistant Lecturer Ammar Habib Mahmoud.

  The workshop aimed to clarify the strategic objectives of the seed sector, focusing on achieving high-quality seeds within a legislative and regulatory framework governing the introduction, registration, production, and distribution of crop seeds, thereby contributing to sustainable growth in the agricultural sector and improving crop productivity and quality.

  This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:  Goal 1 (No Poverty): By supporting agricultural development and improving farmers’ livelihoods.Goal 2 (Zero Hunger): Through research and practices that enhance agricultural productivity and food security.Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being): By improving crop quality and contributing to healthier food production.Goal 4 (Quality Education): By developing researchers’ skills and enhancing scientific and technical training.Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): By strengthening research capacities that support agricultural sector growth and create sustainable employment opportunities.Goal 15 (Life on Land): By preserving crop genetic diversity and protecting natural resources and soil from degradation.Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Through strengthening scientific cooperation between research centers and agricultural institutions.

  The workshop reflects the center’s ongoing efforts to support applied scientific research, sustainable agricultural development, and community service.
