Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research Hosts Students from the College of Agriculture and Forestry for a Scientific Visit.

The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research at University of Mosul received, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, a group of fourth-year students from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer at the College of Agriculture and Forestry – University of Mosul. The visit was organized within the framework of strengthening scientific cooperation between the Center and the College and linking students with the practical aspects of agricultural work.
The students were welcomed by Dr. Islam Abdul Sattar Asmeer, a researcher at the Center, who delivered a scientific lecture introducing the Center’s activities and its role in supporting agricultural scientific research. He also explained the mechanisms for applying conservation agriculture technologies in addressing environmental and climate challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The visit also included a field tour of the Center’s laboratories, where the students were introduced to several modern devices, equipment, and machinery available at the Center. These facilities are used in the application of sustainable agriculture techniques and in conducting studies and research related to soil and crop management in dry and semi-arid environments.
The visit aimed to strengthen the students’ practical knowledge and connect them with the applied aspects of conservation agriculture, contributing to the preparation of qualified agricultural professionals capable of addressing future agricultural challenges and serving the agricultural sector.
This activity is linked to several Sustainable Development Goals, including:
-
Goal 2: Zero Hunger — by promoting sustainable agricultural systems that increase productivity while conserving natural resources.
-
Goal 4: Quality Education — by providing practical educational opportunities and linking students with scientific research.
-
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — through the adoption of conservation agriculture techniques that reduce waste and preserve resources.
-
Goal 13: Climate Action — by promoting agricultural practices that mitigate the impacts of climate change and protect soil and water resources.
