“Annual Employee Evaluation: How to Improve Performance and Achieve Goals”… Scientific Workshop at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research.

The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research at University of Mosul organized, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, a workshop entitled “Annual Employee Evaluation: How to Improve Performance and Achieve Goals” on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The workshop was held under the patronage of Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center. The lectures were delivered by Assistant Lecturer Nawaf Jassim Mohammed, Lecturer Abbas Ali Ahmed, and Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Ibrahim Abd.
The workshop addressed the concept of annual employee evaluation as a periodic administrative process aimed at measuring employee performance based on specific criteria such as productivity, quality of work, job commitment, teamwork, and the extent to which institutional goals are achieved. Evaluation also serves as an effective means of communication between management and employees to determine performance levels, clarify future expectations, and develop improvement plans that contribute to enhancing institutional efficiency.
The workshop further explained that annual evaluation represents one of the most important administrative tools adopted by modern institutions to assess employee performance and develop their capabilities. It enables a comprehensive review of performance over an entire year and helps identify strengths and weaknesses, thereby supporting the development of practical plans to improve performance and achieve institutional objectives more effectively.
The themes of the workshop are aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
-
Goal 4 – Quality Education: by enhancing the quality of education and scientific research through developing staff skills and improving their performance.
-
Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: by supporting a productive work environment based on efficiency and achievement.
-
Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: by promoting institutional innovation and supporting scientific research.
-
Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: by strengthening academic and research cooperation and building effective partnerships that contribute to sustainable development.
This workshop comes within the Center’s efforts to promote a culture of evaluation and continuous improvement, enhancing the quality of research and administrative performance and supporting the university’s path toward academic development.
