“Field and Laboratory Calibration of Conservation Agriculture Seed Drills”… A Workshop at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research , and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, the Center organized a workshop on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, entitled:
“Field and Laboratory Calibration of Conservation Agriculture Seed Drills.”

The workshop lectures were delivered by a number of the Center’s researchers, who highlighted the importance of field and laboratory calibration as a fundamental step to ensure accurate seed distribution and efficient performance of seed drills. This is achieved by testing the equipment under real field conditions and verifying sowing depth, uniform seed distribution, and suitability to soil characteristics.

The workshop aims to enhance the efficiency of agricultural operations, reduce resource wastage, and improve crop productivity, in addition to raising awareness among farmers and agricultural engineers about the importance of adhering to calibration procedures to achieve optimal use of agricultural inputs.

This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

  • Goal 2 (Zero Hunger)

  • Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production)

  • Goal 13 (Climate Action)

  • Goal 15 (Life on Land)
