Assyrian Library

The Assyrian Library Project and its annexes stand among the most significant strategic initiatives currently underway at the University of Mosul. This project marks an advanced step in the University’s pursuit of strengthening its academic and cultural infrastructure. Conceived as a functional and intellectual extension of the Central Library, it adds a new dimension to the system of education and scientific research while keeping pace with national and international academic developments.

As a long-term strategic investment, the Assyrian Library Project reinforces the University of Mosul’s standing as a leading academic and cultural institution. The project is situated within the University of Mosul’s main campus, a prime location that ensures easy access from various colleges and facilities. Covering a total area of 94,422 square meters, it ranks among the largest academic and cultural projects in Iraq.

The project includes the construction of three fully integrated buildings, designed according to the latest engineering standards and international benchmarks for university libraries. These buildings harmonize modern architectural aesthetics with functional efficiency, creating an environment that caters to the needs of students and researchers in reading halls, book repositories, and research facilities.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 54 billion Iraqi dinars—a substantial investment that reflects the University’s deep commitment to advancing its academic environment and expanding its cultural infrastructure. This funding underscores the dedication of the University’s leadership and supporting institutions to consolidating Mosul University’s role as a pioneering center of knowledge.
