Unpublished 3rd Ur Age Cuneiform Texts Unveiled

On 13 February 2020, a viva voce of the MA thesis submitted by student Hazhar Mohammed Ahmed of Department of Old Iraqi Languages was conducted in College of Aercheology, University of Mosul. The thesis titled (Unpublished 3rd Ur Age Cuneiform Texts Preserved in Museum of Suleimaniya), unveiled texts that are not published, which contained important information. The conclusion of the thesis shown that: 1.The texts were written in the period that extends from the reign of Ur King Amar-sin (2046-2038 BC) to the reign of King Abi-sin (2026-2002 BC), which means that they contemporized the last three kings ruling Ur. 2.The texts belong to city of Eri-sakirk, according to the calendars mentioned. 3.The study highlighted a character of a trader called Ulimu-ma, who seems to be a prominent character in the time of King Shu-sin. 4.The texts contained a number of the names of crafts and jobs common in old Ur.
