In embodiment of the belief that University of Mosul is a fountain of peace and a living example of coexistence, Rector Kossay Alahmady, staffs, faculty and students of the University participated in the ceremonies of the reception of Pope Francis on Sunday, March 7th, 2021.The celebration of the occasion was held in the attendance of high profile religious, political, public, governmental and non-governmental bodies in the old Church of Howsh al-Bay’a in Old Mosul. Welcoming speeches were delivered in the occasion by officials and public figures as well as a distinguished speech by chief of the churches of Mosul, Abona Ra’ed, through which he related what he experienced, expelled from and returning back to Mosul. Later, Pope Francis held a memorial prayer blessing the people, who lost their lives in the events.
