The thesis, presented by Ali Jamal Ali from the Department of Archaeology, aimed to highlight the role of metaphor in conveying meanings in ancient and religious texts written in Akkadian and to reveal the linguistic and historical connections between the Akkadian and Arabic languages.

The study included chapters on the history of the Akkadian language, literal and figurative meanings, and an analysis of metaphor and figurative expressions.

Key Findings:

The research concluded that there is a significant similarity in the use of metaphor between the two languages, supporting the hypothesis of a shared origin, as both languages belong to the same linguistic family.
