The College of Science Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Synthesis, Characterization, and Biological Evaluation of Some Heterocyclic Compounds
A Master’s thesis entitled “Synthesis, Characterization, and Biological Evaluation of Some New Heterocyclic Compounds Derived from Benzimidazole Derivatives” was discussed at the College of Science, University of Mosul, on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The study, presented by student Sidra Ahmed Khidr, focused on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds (tetrahedral, pentagonal, hexagonal, and heptagonal) using substituted benzimidazole as a starting material.
The study aimed to prepare compounds such as azetidine, oxazepine, pyrazole, pyridazine, oxadiazole, and thiadiazole, as well as to evaluate the biological activity of some synthesized compounds against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, in addition to yeast.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Faris Dannon Hamid Younis, with members including Assistant Prof. Dr. Omar Dannon Ali Hussein, Assistant Prof. Atta Allah Mohammed Sheet Mahmoud, and supervised by and included Prof. Dr. Salem Jassim Mohammed Saleh.
