Dry and Conservation Agriculture Research Center organizes a visit to implement a training and field application program in Tal Afar district

 

The Dry and Conservation Agriculture Research Center at the University of Mosul organized a visit to Tal Afar district to implement a training and field application program in cooperation with the International Solidarity Organization, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, which lasted for two days.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Asmir Al-Rajbo, Director of the Center, delivered scientific lectures on the importance of conservation agriculture in improving agricultural production by reducing inputs and maximizing outputs in light of the challenges of climate variability that affect the agricultural sector in Iraq.

The lectures touched on how to control the bush, genotypes suitable for drought conditions, and the need to determine the appropriate seeding dates for planting each genotype.

The lectures concluded with a practical demonstration on the use of the seeder for conservation agriculture in the presence of the beneficiary farmers with the aim of training them on the application of this technology and its impact on drought resistance and rationing the use of production inputs such as fuel, fertilizers and seeds with the expected increase in productivity and ensuring the sustainability of farmers’ work in light of the threat of climate change.
