The President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Abdul-Hussein, Chairs a PhD Dissertation Defense at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics
In the presence of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Abbas Mohsen Abdul-Hussein, President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, chaired the PhD dissertation disscution titled “Prediction of Minor Loads in a Cloud-Based Distributed System for Issuing Traffic Violations” on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics.
The dissertation, presented by the student Samah Fakhri Aziz, addressed the traffic violation recording system and the technologies enhancing its performance. It explored implemented aspects to improve the network system’s efficiency, including data analysis, data preparation, spatial aggregation, prediction of future violations, and the deployment of edge computing. The study also presented findings and results that answer the research questions.
The study aims to enhance the performance of the traffic violation recording system and balance minor loads using various aspects, such as edge computing and spatial service distribution, to avoid or reduce network latency. By analyzing available datasets from traffic violation systems, the study created optimized spatial clusters and developed a time series representing newly recorded violations over the past three years, aiming to predict future violations in the same work area. Additionally, it designed a reliable network system capable of meeting future requirements and measured the system’s performance in specific scenarios based on the latency obtained.
The discussion committee included the following members:
Prof. Dr. Shahbaa Ibrahim Khalil
Assistant Prof. Dr. Rawa Boutros Bolous
Assistant Prof. Dr. Mohammed Zaki Hassan
Assistant Prof. Dr. Aws Khazal Ali
The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Manar Younis Ahmed.
