On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on the effectiveness of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in combating corruption and promoting foreign investment / Iraq as a model.

Part of it was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, Assistant to the President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
Prof. Dr. Hayam Adel Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Science, and Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, Dean of the College.

The thesis submitted by student Munir Ramzi Sultan in the branch of human rights law addressed the United Nations Development Program, which has a specialized and pivotal role in the field of combating corruption, which is one of the most important obstacles to development, as the corrupt practice of disposing of funds keeps them away from development, which means reallocating funds in other areas, which hinders the effective enforcement of human rights.

The thesis aims to show that the relationship between corruption and investment is clearly inverse, as high rates of corruption lead to a decrease in the flow of foreign capital, and the United Nations Development Program relies on multiple strategies to combat corruption, including improving governance, enhancing transparency and legislative reform.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Raqib Muhammad Jassim, with the membership of Assistant Professor Ziad Abdul Wahab Abdullah and Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim, and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Younis Yahya.
