College of Archaeology discusses master’s thesis on the history of the Olympic Games in Greece

 

The College of Archaeology discussed a master’s thesis on
“The History of the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece” by student Ahmed Mahmoud Khalaf, on Monday, May 19, 2025, part of which was attended by Prof. Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat, Chairman of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, and Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul.

The study aimed to show the importance of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece, its pivotal role in their lives since the early ages, and the profound impact it left on subsequent eras, up to the modern era.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hussein Zahir Hammoud, with the membership of Prof. Dr. Kazem Abdullah Attia / University of Baghdad and Assistant Professor Dr. Khalaf Zeidan Khalaf, under the supervision and membership of the late Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Elias Sultan, who was represented by Prof. Dr. Yasmin Abdulkarim, Dean of the College.
