The University of Mosul Council holds its 18th session for the academic year 2024-2025

 

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al- Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, chaired the 18th session of the University Council for the academic year 2024-2025, in the presence of the council members.

The session included the discussion of a number of important topics that represent priorities in the development of the academic and scientific system.

On top of that, the meeting emphasized the importance of scientific journals meeting the approved standards for academic publishing, especially those related to the basic determinants of their entry into Scopus.

Everyone emphasized the need to work hard to raise the Impact Factor of journals by supporting sober publishing, improving the quality of published research, and encouraging researchers to adhere to international standards of scientific publishing.

The meeting also addressed the issue of program accreditation as a pivotal tool in enhancing the quality of academic programs and raising their efficiency, which reflects positively on the employment opportunities of graduates in the local and international labor market.

The meeting emphasized the importance of completing its requirements in accordance with approved national and international standards, thus contributing to the upgrading of higher education outputs.

Within the framework of the human dimension of the educational process, the Council discussed the situation of foreign students studying under the “Study in Iraq” program, stressing the need to deal with their situation in a spirit of responsibility and humanitarian concern, and work to provide them with various forms of support, whether at the academic, administrative or service levels, to ensure a stable and stimulating learning environment. The Council also discussed the need to enhance the performance of scientific promotion committees, by following up their files efficiently and transparently, and accelerating their procedures in accordance with the regulations and instructions in force, in order to preserve the rights of teachers and enhance academic mobility within educational institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the Council emphasized the importance of adhering to the sanctity of scientific discussions, and the need to maintain a sober atmosphere during the thesis and dissertation defense sessions, to ensure academic justice and maintain the sober scientific standards on which the educational process in higher education institutions is based
