On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency held a workshop entitled “Amendments to the Iraqi Personal Status Law of 2025 and its impact on women’s rights”.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Afraa Riad Muhammad, the unit’s official, liaison members in the colleges and a number of female employees.

Her lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Shahlaa Kamal Abdul Jawad.

It aimed to highlight the proposed amendments to the Iraqi Personal Status Law and highlight the reasons for their introduction and their legal and social contexts by analyzing the legal and social impact of the amendments, and promoting scientific and objective dialogue about the future of family legislation in Iraq that promotes the values of justice and equality in personal status law, which includes protecting the rights of individuals and the family.
