The President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, inaugurated the celebration held by the College of Engineering on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in honor of its distinguished researchers for their contributions to scientific publications.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jassim,the Assistant of the President for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoun, Dean of the College of Engineering, and a number of faculty members.

During his speech, the University President emphasized that scientific research is the foundation of societal progress, economic development, and the advancement of all aspects of life. He praised the College’s initiative in this important field.

Certificates of appreciation and honorary gifts were awarded to 24 outstanding researchers, including the Assistant of the President for Scientific Affairs, in recognition of their high-quality scientific research published in peer-reviewed journals, and their effective solutions to contemporary engineering and societal challenges.

This event is part of the University’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through promoting scientific research and fostering an academic environment that encourages innovation and knowledge; Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by supporting research projects that contribute to sustainable infrastructure and engineering solutions; and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by enhancing research collaboration with local and international academic and industrial institutions.
