Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi Receives Representatives of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and Chairs an Expanded Meeting to Discuss Preparations for a Scientific Symposium in Cooperation with the Agency

To enhance international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received representatives of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) on Thursday, July 24, 2025, as part of the university’s preparations to organize a scientific symposium in cooperation with the agency entitled: “Private Sector Participation in Climate Change Adaptation.” The symposium will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall on campus.

This symposium is part of the Climate Change Adaptation Project implemented by the German Agency in coordination with several Iraqi institutions.

It aims to enhance the role of the private sector in addressing the impacts of climate change and discuss financing opportunities and sustainable technology.

His Excellency chaired a coordination meeting on Thursday, July 24, 2025, during which the symposium’s themes and logistical and organizational preparations to ensure the success of this major scientific event were discussed.

It is worth noting that the symposium will be held with the German Agency GIZ and the German Development Bank KFW, in the presence of the UNDP, experts from the Iraqi Ministry of Environment, representatives of Nineveh Governorate and some specialized companies.
