On Thursday, July 24, 2025, the College of Arts at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Exploring the Relationship between Learning Styles and Reading Achievement among Iraqi Learners of English as a Foreign Language at the University Level” by researcher Nada Ezzat Ibrahim from the English Department.

The discussion was attended by Prof. Florin Mihai from the University of Florida in the United States, who participated as an external discussant. Prof. Mihai is a prominent expert in the field of teaching English as a foreign language, which added an important international scientific dimension to the discussion.

The study aimed to explore the relationship between learning styles according to the VARK model and reading achievement among second-year students in the English Department, identifying the predominant learning style among them and measuring the impact of individual and multiple styles on reading comprehension.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nashwan Mustafa Saleh and included Prof. Dr. Florin Mihai from the University of Florida, USA, and Dr. Ashraf Riad Abdullah, under the supervision and membership of Dr. Iman Ibrahim Khudair.
