University of Mosul Aims to Strengthen Academic and Research Ties Among Nineveh Universities.. President Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi Visits University of Nineveh

As part of its ongoing initiative to maintain close collaboration with universities in Nineveh, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, paid a visit to the University of Nineveh on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was received by Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, President of the University of Nineveh.

The discussions focused on the importance and necessity of mutual cooperation between the two universities in the fields of education and scientific research, and on building bridges of communication through the exchange of expertise and shared ideas, with the goal of advancing higher education to better serve society.

During the visit, Professor Al-Ibrahimi presented Professor Al-Mashhadani with a 3D-printed emblem of the University of Nineveh, a product of the Ibn Al-Atheer Printing and Publishing House at the University of Mosul.

Additionally, the meeting included a discussion on the regulations surrounding digital journalism, attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Basel Khalaf Hammoud, Head of the Academics Syndicate – Nineveh Branch, and Mr. Hassan Rashkri, Head of the Iraqi Journalists Union – Nineveh Branch. The attendees emphasized the critical role journalism plays in supporting universities by highlighting their scientific, health, and cultural contributions to society, portraying them as ideal environments rich in talent and academic integrity.

President Al-Ibrahimi offered key proposals during the discussions, including organizing a joint symposium on credible digital journalism in collaboration with the University of Nineveh and the Journalists Union, as well as holding training courses for university leadership in cooperation with the Higher Institute for Leadership Development and Training.

He also confirmed the University of Mosul’s readiness to host the institute’s staff and all Nineveh universities for these leadership development courses.
