PhD Dissertation at the College of Arts, University of Mosul, Examines Saudi Arabia’s Policy Toward Internal Developments in Lebanon

 

A PhD dissertation was discussed in the Department of History at the College of Arts, University of Mosul, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, by researcher Mohammed Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani, entitled:
“The Policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Toward Internal Developments in Lebanon (1982–2008).”

The discussion was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities.
Representing the President of the University, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, the University’s Administrative the Assistant of the President, was also present. The session was further attended by Mr. Omar Nameq Al-Mawla, Deputy Governor of Nineveh for Technical Affairs, and Brigadier General Hikm Daham Habo, Director of Civil Status, Passports, and Residency in Nineveh Province, along with a number of academics and faculty members.

The discussion committee was composed of a distinguished group of scholars, chaired by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, with the following members:

* Professor Dr. Basim Ahmed Hashem
* Professor Dr. Hashem Abdulrazzaq Saleh
* Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Faisal Mahmoud

This dissertation represents a scholarly contribution to understanding Saudi foreign policy and its impact on the Lebanese arena during a critical period in the region’s history.
